At every town election cycle in the spring, the LWV-MV holds candidate forums in each town – only where there are competitive (two or more candidates for each open position) races. When ALL races in a town are un-contested, there is NO forum. MVTV will video each town’s forum and upload to their channel within 48 hours to make it available on demand.
Below is a chart of candidate forum dates along with dates of each town’s annual meeting (ATM) and annual town election (ATE). The ATM and the ATE dates are fixed by the town. Candidate forum dates are usually two weeks before the ATM/ATE . The LWV-MV tries to avoid two towns’ candidate forums on the same date (and the island’s spring vacation break April 19-25!)
The chart below is preliminary. Residents should contact their town clerks for balloting information, last date for submitting papers to run for a particular office and how to register to vote. Contact information for each town clerk can be found HERE.
